Note: Elevated eosinophils, basophils, and monocytes may
indicate intestinal parasites, especially when paired with low
hemoglobin, hematocrit, and serum iron. If suspected, further
evaluation such as a stool test with ova and parasite is
recommended4particularly when clinical symptoms support the
suspicion.
When to run this test:
● To detect allergies and parasitic infections and track the
progress of treatment.

Basophils
Basophils are a small but powerful group of white blood cells that
play a crucial role in allergic reactions and inflammation. They
kickstart these responses by releasing histamine, heparin, and
serotonin and help regulate inflammation by preventing clotting in
affected tissues.
When the body faces tissue inflammation, basophil levels often
rise, signaling their active role in immune defense. Though an
increased basophil count is linked to higher histamine levels in the
blood, the exact cause-and-effect relationship remains unclear.
When to run this test:
● To study allergic and inflammatory reactions
