Vitamin B6
The Vitamin B6 test measures the level of vitamin B6 in the blood.
Vitamin B6, also known as Pyridoxine, is essential for amino acid
metabolism, neurotransmitter synthesis, and the production of
hemoglobin.
Vitamin B6 is also critical to the development of over 100 enzymes.
Two of these enzymes are found in the liver and are associated
with liver health: Aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alanine
aminotransferase (ALT).
B6 deficiency is likely when AST is low.
When to run this test:
● To detect Vitamin B6 deficiency
● To check cardiovascular and/or liver health

Conventional
0-40 U/L
Optimal / Functional
10-30 U/L
Like AST, B6 deficiency is associated with low ALT. AST is generally
included in a liver panel. Practitioners often use this test to check
for elevated levels often associated with fatty liver.
When to run this test:
● To check for liver damage
