Serum iron relies both on the quantity of iron present and the
amount of transferrin available. Ordering serum iron without a
serum ferritin and TIBC has very little clinical value.
When to use this test:
● To test for iron deficiency anemia.
● To monitor during anemia treatment.
● To check for iron overload.

Manganese
A manganese blood test can assess manganese levels in the
blood serum. Manganese can also be found as a part of
micronutrient panels including the Micronutrient Test offered by
SpectraCell Laboratories.
When to use this test:
● Suspected Toxicity: If there's known environmental
exposure4such as from welding, mining, or contaminated
water4or if you have a chronic liver condition that may
impair manganese elimination.
● Neurological Symptoms: Unexplained issues like tremors,
mood changes, memory loss, or balance problems may
indicate excess manganese, especially if they resemble
Parkinsonian symptoms.
