COMPENDIUM ON FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE - Flipbook - Page 681
Memory B-cells
Long-lived cells that enable rapid antibody production upon
re-exposure to an antigen [43, 44]
Natural Killer (NK) Cells
Natural Killer cells represent a critical component of innate
immunity, providing rapid responses against virus-infected and
malignant cells without requiring prior sensitization [45, 46]:
CD56bright NK Cells
Primarily produce cytokines to regulate immune responses [47, 48]
CD56dim NK Cells
Primarily function as cytotoxic cells to eliminate compromised cells
[49, 50]
The balance between these various lymphocyte populations and
their functional states provides critical information about overall
immune health and potential dysfunctions [51, 52].
What the Lymphocyte MAP™ Measures
The Lymphocyte MAP™ assesses key components of immune
system regulation, providing a comprehensive profile of
lymphocyte subpopulations and their functional balance [53, 54].
This includes:
T-cell Populations
Total T-cells (CD3+)
The overall T-cell population that orchestrates cell-mediated
immunity [55, 56]
Helper T-cells (CD3+CD4+)
